The Wollongong Music Collective brings together a diverse group of musicians and covering a range of styles.  The concert will feature a range of styles and ensembles and a combination of old and new repertoire. The ensemble draws on the wealth of talent from Wollongong Conservatorium of Music’s staff; all highly experienced performers in their own right as well as being fine educators.  The group will perform in different combinations of solos, duets and trios, and will cover a vast amount of stylistic territory.   While the group’s piano trio will explore a major work by the great Russian composer Dmitry Shostakovich, a jazz trio will delve into the jazz repertoire including Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk. Meanwhile, composer and pianist John Spence will bring his original music which combines his background in classical, jazz, rock and a range of other influences. Also in the mix will be music by legendary violinist Niccolò Paganini, taking advantage of yet another combination of the Wollongong Music Collective musicians.
